Commissioned Work at Floridian Ceramics
Commissioned ceramic work is a collaborative process rooted in craft, material, and trust. Each piece is made by hand and thoughtfully created with your input, while allowing space for the natural variation that makes ceramics unique.
-
Commissions begin with a request form outlining your idea, intended use, and timeline. Once reviewed, you’ll be contacted to confirm feasibility, pricing, and next steps. Not all requests are accepted—this ensures every commission receives the time and care it deserves.
-
All commissioned pieces are handmade and one-of-a-kind. Variations in glaze, texture, color, and form are inherent to the ceramic process and should be expected. Perfection is not the goal—character is.
-
Commission timelines vary depending on complexity, studio schedule, and kiln cycles. Typical turnaround ranges from 4–8 weeks, though timelines are not guaranteed. Ceramics move at kiln speed, not calendar speed.
-
Pricing is based on size, complexity, materials, and labor. A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your commission and begin work. The remaining balance is due prior to delivery or pickup.
-
Minor adjustments may be discussed during the process, but final artistic decisions—including glaze application and finishing—remain with the artist. Completed commissions are considered final upon firing.
