Classes & Booking

How much does a pottery class cost at Floridian Ceramics?

Our Intro to Wheel Throwing class is $65 + tax per person. That covers everything: clay, tools, aprons, one-on-one instruction, glazing, and both kiln firings for the two bowls you make. No hidden fees, no upsells.

Do I need any experience to take a class?

None at all. Our beginner classes in Tampa's Seminole Heights are built for total first-timers. Most students have never touched a pottery wheel before. Whether it's a date night, a birthday, or a solo Tuesday, you'll leave with two bowls you actually made.

How long is the Intro to Wheel Throwing class?

Two hours. You'll learn centering, pulling walls, and shaping simple forms, and you'll make two bowls in that time.

What's included in the class?

Everything you need: clay, all tools, aprons, hands-on instruction from Haley, professional glazing, and two kiln firings. You just show up.

How many people are in each class?

Classes are capped at 4 students. We keep them small on purpose so everyone gets real, individual instruction at the wheel instead of watching from the back of a crowd.

What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?

You can reschedule or cancel up to 24 hours before your class for a full refund or credit. Inside that window, contact the studio and we'll do our best to move you to another class. If we ever have to cancel a class, you get a full refund.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes. A pottery class makes a great gift for birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays. Gift cards are available through the studio and never expire.

Visiting the Studio

Where is Floridian Ceramics located? Is there parking?

We're at 7110 N Florida Ave in Tampa's Seminole Heights neighborhood, a short drive from downtown Tampa, Ybor City, and Riverside Heights. Free parking is available directly in front of the studio and on the side of building.

What should I wear?

Dress comfortable, in clothes you don't mind getting a little dirty. Clay washes out of most fabrics with water. If you wear Prada, that's on you.

Can I bring drinks? What's the alcohol policy?

The studio is BYOB for guests 21 and up. Bring a bottle of wine or a couple of beers and enjoy them responsibly while you throw. We check ID, and we don't sell alcohol ourselves.

Can kids take pottery classes?

Yes. Kids 8 and up can join wheel throwing classes with adult supervision. Younger kids can participate in hand building classes when available. Reach out and we'll point you to the right fit.

Do you offer memberships or open studio time?

Yes. Floridian Ceramics offers memberships for potters who want regular wheel time, shelf space, and firings in a working Tampa studio. Contact us for current availability and pricing.

Your Pottery

What happens to my pieces after class?

After class, we trim your pieces, fire them once, apply glaze, then fire them a second time. Two firings and glazing is what turns soft clay into finished, functional ceramics. It's the same process we use for our own work.

When will my finished pieces be ready?

Typically 1 to 2 weeks after your class. Your instructor will give you an exact pickup date, and you can always check the Pickup Status page on our site.

How long will you hold my finished pieces?

Please pick up your work within 30 days of your ready date. We will hold onto them as long as possible, but, we'd much rather you come get them.

Is my pottery food safe, dishwasher safe, and microwave safe?

Yes. All clay and glazes we use are food safe, and finished pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe. The glaze itself won't be harmed in the dishwasher, but pieces can knock against each other, so load with care.

Will you ship my pieces to me?

Yes, on request. You cover the shipping cost, and we ship within the US only.

Events & Groups

Can I book a private event, bachelorette party, or team outing?

Yes. We host private pottery classes in Tampa for bachelorette parties, birthdays, corporate team building, and friend groups. Small studio, hands-on instruction, BYOB. Contact us with your date and group size and we'll build something around you.

Do you host birthday parties?

Yes, and your birthday at the pottery studio will be awesome. You're welcome to come in early and put up balloons and small non-permanent decorations. Want it to be a surprise? The studio can decorate for you for a small fee with 48 hours notice.

Is a pottery class a good date night in Tampa?

It's the best one you haven't tried yet. Two hours at the wheel, BYOB, and you both leave with handmade bowls instead of a bar tab. Read why on our blog: The Best Tampa Date Idea You Haven't Tried Yet.

Can you accommodate special requests?

We'll try our best. Call or email the studio and tell us what you have in mind.
