Terms of Service

These are the terms for using this website and for booking and attending classes, workshops and events at Floridian Ceramics. By booking, you agree to them.

Bookings and payment

A seat is reserved when your payment is completed through Square. Prices are per person and shown before tax; Florida sales tax of 7.5% is added at checkout. Your receipt comes from Square by email.

Rescheduling and cancellation

You can reschedule or cancel up to 24 hours before your class for a full refund or credit. Reschedules stay within the same class (for example, an Intro to Wheel Throwing seat moves to another Intro date) and depend on open seats. Inside 24 hours, contact the studio and we'll do our best to move you to another class, but refunds are not guaranteed. If we ever have to cancel a class, you receive a full refund. Full details are on our Refunds & Cancellations page.

Arrival and conduct

  • Please arrive 10 minutes early. Classes start on time so everyone gets the full session at the wheel; late arrivals may have shortened time and can't be refunded.
  • Wear clothes you don't mind getting muddy. Aprons are provided.
  • The studio is BYOB for guests 21 and up. We check ID and don't sell alcohol. Guests who are visibly intoxicated may be asked to stop working at the wheel for safety.
  • Follow the instructor's directions around wheels, tools and kiln areas. Kilns and some studio areas are off limits to guests.
  • Children 8 and up may join wheel classes with a participating adult.

Assumption of risk

Pottery involves spinning wheels, hand tools, water on the floor and clay dust. By attending you agree to use reasonable care, follow instructions, and accept the ordinary risks of a working ceramics studio. Please tell us before class about anything we should know to keep you safe.

Your finished pieces

After class we trim, fire, glaze and fire your pieces again, which normally takes 2 to 3 weeks. Firing is a high-temperature process with natural variables, and on rare occasions a piece may crack, warp or be lost in the kiln. Class fees cover the instruction, materials, studio time and firing attempts; a finished piece is not guaranteed, and the studio isn't liable for pieces damaged during drying or firing. Our full kiln firing and finished work policy is published on the class page.

Please pick up finished work within 30 days of your ready date. We'll hold pieces as long as we reasonably can, but unclaimed work may eventually be recycled or donated. Shipping within the US is available on request at your cost.

Private events and workshops

Private events are quoted individually; a deposit and the terms of that quote apply. Multi-week workshops are booked as a whole and can't be rescheduled. Cancellations refund 100% when made 7 or more days before the first session, 50% between 7 days and 48 hours before, and nothing inside 48 hours. Missed sessions can't be refunded individually, but a make-up day can be scheduled for a $50 fee, subject to studio availability.

Gift cards and credits

Studio credits issued for cancellations don't expire and can be used toward any class or workshop. Gift cards are sold and redeemed through the studio.

Photos

We sometimes take photos in the studio for our website and social media. Tell your instructor if you'd rather not appear, and we'll make sure you don't.
