Corporate Holiday Parties in Tampa: Make Something Together.
Most corporate holiday parties follow the same script: a banquet room, a buffet line, and forty minutes of small talk about traffic. This year, give your team something they can actually hold onto.
Floridian Ceramics hosts private pottery events for groups of up to 12 to 15 in our Seminole Heights studio in Tampa. We build each event around your team and your calendar. Nobody needs experience, nobody has to be good at it, and everyone leaves having made something with their own hands.
This guide covers why pottery works so well for a team party, what your group can make, how an event runs, and what to know about timing before the holidays get busy.
Why pottery works for a team holiday party
Pottery works because it gives a group a shared task that is easy to start and hard to be awkward at. Here is what that looks like in practice:
Everyone starts at the same level. The CEO and the newest hire are equally unsure how to center a lump of clay. Hierarchy tends to melt when everyone is a beginner together.
Busy hands make easy conversation. People talk more naturally when they are working on something side by side. You get real conversation without a forced icebreaker.
Nobody is a spectator. There is no presentation to sit through and no one stuck on the edge of the room. The whole group is making something at once.
There is a keepsake at the end. Finished pieces are glazed, fired, and food safe, so the bowl or mug your teammate made gets used at their kitchen table long after the party is over.
It is a break from the usual. A working pottery studio in Seminole Heights feels nothing like a conference room or a restaurant back room, which is exactly the point.
What your group can make
We offer four formats for private corporate events, and they can be mixed to fit your team.
Wheel throwing. The full pottery experience, modeled on our Intro to Wheel Throwing class. Your group learns to center clay, pull walls, and shape simple forms at the wheel. Best for teams that want the real thing and are happy to get muddy.
Hand-building. Shaping clay by hand, without the wheel, using techniques like pinch, coil, and slab. It is a lower-pressure way to make something, and a good fit for groups who want a calmer pace.
Paint & Sip. Your group decorates ceramic pieces made by Floridian Ceramics, with drinks, music, and no wheel required. It is our most relaxed format and works for every skill level. Learn more about our public Paint & Sip sessions.
Custom. Tell us what you have in mind and we will build the event around your group, whether that is a mix of formats, a particular goal, or a specific amount of time.
Not sure which one to pick? Choose based on the energy you want. Wheel throwing is the most hands-on, Paint & Sip is the most relaxed, and hand-building sits comfortably in between.
What a private event looks like, start to finish
A private event takes four steps from first call to finished pieces:
Call or text us. Share your date, your group size, and what you are picturing. Even a rough idea is enough to start.
We build the plan and send a quote. Every event is different, so pricing is quoted based on your group size, format, and date.
Show up and make something. Wear clothes you do not mind getting a little dirty. Clay washes out of most fabrics with water. Free parking is available in front of the studio and on the side of the building.
We handle the rest. After your event, we trim the pieces, fire them, glaze them, and fire them a second time. Two firings and glazing is what turns soft clay into finished, functional ceramics.
Your group gets hands-on instruction throughout, so even first-timers are never left guessing.
Planning around the holidays
The main thing to plan for is firing time. Pottery cannot be rushed, and pieces typically take 1 to 2 weeks to be ready after your event. If you want a deeper look at why, we break down the full timeline in our post on how long pottery actually takes.
Some practical ways to plan around it:
Book early. The holiday season is busy for everyone, and our kilns are no exception. The earlier you reach out, the more options you have for dates.
Tell us your deadline when you book. If you want pieces in hand before a gift exchange or an office closing, say so up front and we will tell you honestly what is realistic. We do not promise a finished date before we know your event date.
Consider a January celebration. Not every team party has to happen in December. A post-holiday event avoids the calendar crunch and gives your team something to look forward to once the rush is over.
Use the pickup tracker. You can check on your pieces any time on our Pickup Status page. Please pick up within 30 days of your ready date.
Have remote teammates? We can ship finished pieces within the US on request. Shipping is at your cost.
Food, drinks, and the small details
The studio is relaxed by design, and a few logistics are worth knowing before you book:
Drinks. The studio is BYOB for guests 21 and up. Bring wine or beer and enjoy responsibly while you work. We check ID and do not sell alcohol ourselves. Check your own company's policy on alcohol at team events before you plan.
Food. We handle food on a case-by-case basis, since clay and snacks share a small space. Tell us what you have in mind when you reach out and we will let you know what works.
Scheduling. Our regular hours are weekdays 9am to 4pm and weekends 10am to 2pm, but private events are scheduled case by case. If your team needs a different time, ask.
Group size. We host private events for up to 12 to 15 people. If your team is bigger, call us and we will talk through the options.
Location. We are at 7110 N Florida Ave in Seminole Heights, a short drive from downtown Tampa, Ybor City, and Riverside Heights.
Corporate holiday party FAQ
How many people can you host?
Up to 12 to 15 people for a private event. For a larger team, call us and we will talk through what is possible.
Does anyone on my team need pottery experience?
No. Most people who walk through our door have never touched a pottery wheel. Every format is built for first-timers.
How much does a private event cost?
We quote each event individually based on group size, format, and date. Call or text the studio and we will get you a number.
When will our finished pieces be ready?
Typically 1 to 2 weeks after your event. If you are working toward a deadline, tell us when you book so we can be upfront about what is realistic.
Are the finished pieces food safe?
Yes. All of our clay and glazes are food safe, and finished pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe. Load them with a little care so they do not knock against each other.
Can you ship pieces to teammates who could not make it?
Yes, on request, within the US. Shipping is at your cost.
Can we book outside your normal hours?
Possibly. Private events are scheduled case by case, so reach out with the time you have in mind.
